Update on PICNIC 2010

Hey Scixers (: This is an update on our picnic outing.

Date: Either 27th june or 4th july (depends on the the reply u give me. Hopefully everyone can be free on the same day ^^)

Time: 12-4/5 pm (some ppl may need to come early to help with the set up)

Venue: Botanical gardens as choosen by the majority

Theme: FLORAL!! Come in floweriiish shirts/dresses/shorts/skirts haha

Games: heheh that's for us to know and for u to find out (:

Finally Food: everyone can volunteer to cook/bake/buy some food/drink/dessert/snacks/fruits, as much as possible, according to the theme (as quoted from facebook). Maybe u can gather into grps and come up with something on the day before the picnic. However, you must tell me wat u are going to contribute by smsing me @ 92969278 or emailing me @ yimsies@gmail.com by 9th june 2010 which is next Wed. Thanks for you co-orperation!

SC6 PICNIC 2010!!!

Hi scixers!

What are u guys up to? Care to spare some time in June? Cos we are having class outing again :)
Ok so here is the plan: We are going to have a theme picnic together!There will be lota food, games and fun :)


After some discussion with Eunice and Sarah, we have come up with the following two themes:

1. Floral ( aka lot of flowers and summer like feeling )

2. Stripes ( aka anything to do with stripes )

Take note that u have to dress up according to the theme, and all food and games have to follow it too :) so follow ur heart and choose!


There are two options for the venue of this picnic:

1. Marina Barrage ( it will be quite easy for us to find a spot and with the large open space we can even fly kites :) But note that we will be going on Sunday so it might be quite crowded. And furthermore, as we are going there in the noon I guess u can imagine the heat:p )

2. Botanic Gardens ( quite shady but might be hard to find a good spot)

Finally the date. We know the guys are in army and the only free time they have is in the weekend. So gals let's be nice and spare some time on Sunday alright :) We ll probably start at 12 noon and end ard 5.


Okie that's abt it. By now u should have alr chosen the options u wan for the 3 aspects :) if u have, take the poll below :)

Meanwhile, u guys can brainstorm on the food and games we are going to have. For the food, we ll probably have pizza as the main one. The rest will be chipped in by us, as in we have to cook ourselves (: ( further details will be given later ).Once the theme is confirmed we ll start asking u guys to contribute ur ideas :)
Thanks again to u all. My target here is to have all of u coming! Haha so help me by making urself appear during the picnic 8). We look forward to seeing u guys!

NE Lesson

Hi SC6! This is your NE rep Daryl!
This is an announcement for our last NE lesson for the year. It'll be on 5 Aug 2009 during PCCG period. The theme for the lesson is MY WORLD: My Dream Destination.

Lesson objectives:
Familiarising students to the culture, politics, economy and geography of other nations and their ties to Singapore.

Our task:
In your groups, decide on a common dream destination that you all would like to work in if you had to go overseas. For e.g., England. You don't have to decide on exactly which city or place you wanna work in but it'd be interesting if you did so. For e.g, Newcastle =)

Then compare your choice destination with Singapore based on the following guidelines:
1. Why are you drawn to the country of your choice?
2. Give an outline of the population profile, geography, politics, economy and culture of the country. (See Wikipedia, CIA World Factbook and other sources)
3. How does this country compare to Singapore? What are the notable similarities/differences?
4. What is Singapore's relationship with your selected country?

Compile all research into a one-page info sheet. You can write in point form, use pictures from magazines, newspapers etc. Try to make it as colourful and attractive as possible! (Girls+Sam, I need your help in this!)

Then on Wed, 5 Aug 2009, during PCCG period from 1310-1350(+8GMT), we'll present our findings.

Suggestion for Year book

Hey 2SC6!

I would just like to share an idea i came up with you guys.
It is regarding our year book one page collage thingy..
the page that costs us a friggin 100 dollars
The school want to burn money also must burn until like that meh! wah lao eh!

Anyway i was thinking.. i find collages very messy. You might argue that creating a collage of all the previous events we had as a class would be a good momento for our class. But i disagree!! The collages are so messy! The photos are so small!! You can hardly see anything in those photos! And you ALREADY have the actual, big, soft copies of those photos in your comp. Refer to those! Why look at the substandard collage -.- I do find the youtube layout and our senior's Next Top Model collage quite interesting but, again, why a collage when you already have the individual photos of these events?

I have a suggestion for that 100 dollar page that we should keep for the rest of our lives

Here it is:

We take a group photo. Possibly at the school studio(according to Eunice). We wear smart casual. And we all hold a piece of paper with the words that best describe us. Like The Holy One. Or The Plant. Or The Boy. Or The Genitals. After that we photoshop the group photo onto a cool background. Like a starry space sky. Basically, like a magazine cover. And we all pose in whatever way we want, eg: jumpshot, lying down, sitting, 1 leg up, kicking.

Rationale:
1 group photo - everyone can be seen
smart casual - people will wear clothes that will really define them. Like daryl will come in T Shirt...jia hui will come in goth stuff. i dunno. sam will come in blacks? Know sam ho will come with disney.
Words - this is where we get our memories from
studio - better photo quality? eh i not sure about this one
background - cool what

Alternatively, we could take photos wearing smart casual holding the piece of paper and whatever pose they want as individuals. Then we photo shop all of them in, forming a border around the words 2sc6 (Replace the apple with the words 2SC6)

CIP Opportunity

Hello 2SC6!
I have lobang for some self-initiated CIP Opportunities for those interested
My belief is that since we have to do CIP, we had better do fun and meaningful CIP!!

There are 3 separate sporting events coming up.
You can sign up for 1 event, or all 3 events. Up to you. Any events you want.

22 Feb – Aquathlon (swim run)
15 March – Duathlon (bike run)
19 April – Triathelon (Swim Bike Run)

Benefits of Volunteering:
Free event T-Shirt
CIP Hours
Packet Lunch
Transport to (and most probably fro)

Roles Available:
Water Pourer – Provide refreshments to Race Participants along the route
Road Marshall – Direct the Race Participants where to go
(Most probably)
People giving out goodies – At the end of the race / Before the race starts

Dates of training:
None. Just be present for the event day. Non-commital.
Most probably just 1 briefing before the race day

I am signing up as a Volunteer for the Triathlon Only.
Ppl interested so far are Zhi Jian And Yong Lit (I was surprised! That’s why im opening it up to the class)
